Jason Ryan Dorsey

Gen Y @ Work: An Insider’s Guide to Engaging Generation Y Employees

Over 60,000,000 members of Generation Y—born 1977+/- to 1995—are entering the workforce. They adhere to a different set of workplace beliefs, priorities, and communication styles than the three generations currently employed. Generation Y’s attitude towards work can make them a challenge to retain, train, motivate, and manage. In Gen Y @ Work, bestselling author Jason Ryan Dorsey—The Gen Y Guy™—cuts through the stereotypes to teach business leaders what Generation Y covets at work and why. He then reveals specific actions and approaches that employers can immediately adopt to unlock the talent, loyalty, and teamwork of this emerging workforce.

As a member of Generation Y, Jason Ryan Dorsey is uniquely qualified to discuss his generation’s workplace mindset. Jason’s live seminars and bestselling books are estimated to have helped 100,000 of his peers enter the workforce.

Attendees leave Gen Y @ Work able to:

• Understand Generation Y’s workplace beliefs, preferences, and priorities
• Connect with Generation Y from their very first day of work
• Retain Generation Y employees without relying on financial incentives

Jason will also discuss the three other generations in the workplace during his keynote. He will cover these in greater detail during his workshop.

Jason Ryan Dorsey is a recognized authority on generational dynamics in the workplace. Often referred to as the “Gen Y Guy,” Jason has been featured on 60 Minutes, 20/20, NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s The View, and in The Wall Street Journal and Fortune Magazine. Demand for Jason’s workplace strategies have taken him to companies and conferences across the United States and as far away as Egypt, Spain, and India. During a typical year, Jason speaks to audiences ranging from corporate executives and entrepreneurs to first-time employees and frontline managers. In recognition of his business achievements, Jason won the Austin Under 40 Entrepreneur of the Year Award at age 25—one of the youngest recipients ever.

To understand the realities of leading a multigenerational workforce, Jason interviewed employees and managers representing each generation in a variety of industries. His goal was to learn their beliefs, priorities, and preferences in order to find common ground in the workplace. Jason used this experience and extensive research to develop a framework and specific strategies that business leaders can use to increase employee loyalty, teamwork, and discretionary effort across the generations.
